Dana White: UFC president apologizes after video of him slapping wife comes out | World News

UFC president Dana White has apologized after video emerged of a physical altercation with his wife while on vacation in Mexico.

The video, released by TMZ Sports, shows the couple arguing in a crowded nightclub on New Year’s Eve, prompting others to intervene.

Dana White’s wife, Anne, was seen beating her husband before he hit back.

“You’ve heard me say for years that men never have any excuse to put their hands on a woman, and now I’m here to talk about it,” Dana White told TMZ Sports.

“My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years, we’ve known each other since we were 12 and obviously we’ve been through things together. We have three children and this is one of those horrible situations.

“I’m embarrassed, but it’s also one of those situations where we’re more concerned about our kids now. Since the video came out, we’ve shown it to our kids, we’re more concerned about our families, right now.

“People will have opinions about it, and most people’s opinions are correct, especially in my case. You should never put your hands on a woman.”

White, 53, said he had been drinking that night, but added “it’s not an excuse”.

“I’m really not making any excuses about it,” he added.

He said he and his wife had reconciled.

“It happened, I don’t know why it happened, my wife and I have apologized to each other and to our children.

“That was the beginning and the end of it, we were still on vacation. We drank too much, everything that happened that night happened, but that’s it, it’s over.”
