What to expect from Prince Harry’s memoir
Sky News’ royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills said the allegations were “very serious”.
She said: “We knew in 2019 that the relationship between the brothers was falling apart, so it wasn’t a surprise to hear that they weren’t getting along at the time. But it was shocking to give so many personal details.
“In the past, Prince Harry has been criticized for making heinous allegations of racism within the palace, or for not taking Meghan’s mental health seriously enough, while others have suggested they have not done enough with specific naming.
“It seems that Harry, in this book, didn’t hold back.”
“You don’t need to tell Meg about this”
Harry wrote that his brother was irrational and they started yelling at each other and insulting each other until William claimed he was trying to help.
“Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you said? Help me?” Harry said, reportedly Guardian copy.
His comments are said to have angered William and an altercation allegedly broke out after he offered him a glass of water.
Harry added that William urged him to fight back before leaving and then “looked sorry and apologetic”.
When he left again, Harry said he “turned around and said: ‘You don’t need to tell Meg about this.'”
Harry first told his therapist about it
He went on to explain that he didn’t immediately tell his wife, but he did tell her about it after she noticed “scratches and bruises” on his back.
However, he claims to have told his therapist first.
Titled after the phrase “Heir and Standby,” the book also delves into Harry’s childhood, his school, his career as a royal, and his relationship with his parents and brother.
He recalled his mother, Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997, and the Queen, who died last year.
Spare will be released on January 10, following the prince’s latest Netflix documentary about his life with Meghan and their decision to leave the royal family.
In the episode, Meghan suffers a miscarriage, which Harry says was caused by the stress they put on her from the lawsuit against the Daily Mail’s parent company, and has suicidal thoughts.
He also claims William broke a promise to him never to spill stories or cheat on each other after witnessing the aftermath of such behavior in their father’s office.
‘I want a family – not an institution’
The Duke’s extraordinary book announcement comes after the release of the trailer for the ITV interview, in which Harry said he wants his father and brother back.
The interview, scheduled for release on Sunday, will air two days before Spare’s global launch.
In a series of clips from his ITV talk, Harry told presenter Tom Bradby: “It never needed to be like this”, referring to “leaks and Plant”.
