Hugh Jackman on Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman is sharing details on how his most famous character, the fearsome mutant X-Men Wolverine, will interact with Ryan Reynolds’ one-liner Deadpool in the upcoming “Deadpool 3.”

On a recent Empire Film podcast, Jackman said the two characters have “zero” compatibility, calling them “opposites” and saying they “hate each other” — all of which would make for some really good Odd-Edge films humor in.

“He was annoyed by him,” he said on the podcast. “[Wolverine is] frustrated [Deadpool and] Want to be a million miles away from him, or want to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’ll probably be punching him in the head a lot. ”

The dynamic also mirrored Jackman’s off-screen interactions with Reynolds, as the friends shared a long-running joke on social media, feigning dislike for each other, often laughing or laughing at each other.

Jackman has (surprisingly) been playing Wolverine, also known as Logan, since the first “X-Men” movie came out in 2000.

Since then, he’s donned the claws nearly a dozen times, even helping Reynolds play Deadpool/Wade Wilson in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (in an early but unsuccessful iteration ).

The “Son” actor last played Wolverine in 2017’s critically acclaimed “Logan,” which summed up the character’s storyline in a succinct, “perfect” way and won an Oscar for Best Adaptation Screenplay nomination process.

Jackman made it clear during the podcast that the new movie takes place before the events of “Logan,” so it won’t change the fan-favorite character’s movie timeline.

He has previously stated that “Logan” will be the last time he plays Wolverine, but of course that is no longer the case. On the podcast, he was actually able to pin down the exact date this summer when he changed his mind.

“It was August 14th, and I remember driving, and I just thought about it, and I just thought, this is going to be fun. I’m probably going to have more fun with that movie than anything I’ve ever done,” he said. Say.

Ryan Reynolds in

Even so, Jackman said the process of training to be Wolverine — the character he feels is the furthest from who he really is — got harder each time, but this time, he had some extra motivation.

“I just get the extra motivation to take Ryan Reynolds out every day. So I really want to be in good shape for this so I can enjoy it!”

Deadpool 3 is due out in November or 2024.
