Larry Fitzgerald Foundation to Join DraftKings 4th Annual Philanthropy Initiative to Raise $100,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

BOSTON, Oct. 3, 2022 /CSRwire/ – DraftKings Inc. (NASDAQ: DKNG) today announced that this October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company will collaborate with Larry Fitzgery The Rad Foundation partnered to host the fourth annual Pink ‘Em charity event with the goal of donating $100,000 to breast cancer research and supporting those affected. Since launching the Pink ‘Em program in 2019, DraftKings’ month-long program has received more than $330,000 in donations through free-to-play, pick ’em pools at the NFL’s October games. This October, Pink ‘Em will feature at its first company-wide branding event for DraftKings, following the recent appointment of Larry Fitzgerald as Official DraftKings Brand Ambassador.

“With millions of fans playing on DraftKings every week during the NFL season, we have an exciting opportunity to use our platform to support important causes like Breast Cancer Awareness Month through our Pink ‘Em initiative,” Chief said executive officer and co-CEO Jason Robins. The Pink ‘Em Charity Prize Pool will be available between Weeks 4 and 8 of the NFL schedule, and customers will be able to select their team lineup for each game to compete for a weekly $5,000 DK Dollar prize. For the first 20,000 entries per week, DraftKings will donate $1 to the Larry Fitzgerald Foundation to fund breast cancer research and support those affected. In 2022 alone, according to the American Cancer Society, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and Breastcancer.org:

  • About 224,080 new cancer cases and 73,680 cancer deaths are expected in blacks

    • For most cancers, blacks have the highest mortality rate and shortest survival of any racial/ethnic group in the United States

    • Black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women despite lower rates of breast cancer

  • Although Latin America is genetically diverse, Hispanic women and Latinos are more likely to be diagnosed at a younger age with more aggressive diseases, such as triple-negative breast cancer, with fewer targeted therapies

  • In the US, 287,850 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 51,400 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed

  • Nearly 30% of new cancer diagnoses in women will be breast cancer
