Netflix has expanded its crackdown on password sharing, reminding those who break the rules around the world that their accounts cannot be accessed for free outside their homes.
On Tuesday, the company said it was sending information about account sharing Serving clients in 103 countries, including the UK, France, Germany, US, Australia, Singapore, Mexico and Brazil.
Email alerts to sharers Netflix Accounts can only be used within one household.
Concerned about market saturation, the streaming service has been looking for new revenue streams, efforts including limits on password borrowing and new ad-supported options.
Paying customers can add a member outside the home for an additional fee.
In the UK, it costs £4.99 per month.
Members can also transfer a person’s profile, so users can keep their viewing history and recommendations.
The company warned last year that it would limit account sharing and was testing various approaches in some markets.
It has asked customers in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain to pay extra if they share passwords with family or friends who live in different houses, and it said it was pleased with the results.
