Boston— Boston University Women’s Basketball Program Officially Announces Hiring Tokararos as an assistant coach. Rose joined the team as the Beagles begin official training for the 2022-23 season.
Rose, who played in three NCAA tournaments in Iowa State and has 15 years of professional basketball experience, joins a coaching staff led by a sophomore head coach melissa grave and assistant coach Brianna Finch and Courtney Williamsand Director of Basketball Operations Jason Pelham.
“I’m excited to add Toccara to our Terrier women’s basketball family,” Graves said. “She has been competing at a high level for many years and I am delighted that she will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. Tokara is someone who can connect with all walks of life and care deeply about developing relationships. I can’t wait to see Watch her grow into a passionate coach and determined mentor.”

Before joining the Beagles, Rose spent the 2022 campaign on Athletes Unlimited, which recently completed its first season. Rose played alongside WNBA athletes and played for captains such as DiJonai Carrington, Isabelle Harrison, Tianna Hawkins and Lexie Brown.
In total, Rose has played professional basketball in more than 20 countries. While on the European Cup circuit in Switzerland, she won the Swiss league title. She was previously named Player of the Year in Puerto Rico’s top women’s professional league, BSNF, and finished third in the league in scoring in 2011 with 20.6 points per game.
Rose began her collegiate career at Kirkwood Community College, where she led the Eagles to a fourth national finish as a freshman and to the NJCAA Division II championship game as a sophomore. That season, she was named to the 2006 NJCAA DII Women’s National Championship team.
She later moved to the Cyclones before the 2006-07 season. Her strongest season came in 2006-07, when she averaged 10.7 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds and won the ISU Rebounding Award. In 2009, she was a member of the Iowa State Elite 8 team.
In addition to his strengths on the field, Rose serves as an advocate for the athlete experience and community development. Since 2009, she has been an advocate and spokesperson for Athlete Ally, helping to develop public awareness campaigns and educational programs to promote inclusive sports communities while addressing all aspects of human rights. During Athlete Infinity, she worked for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
Chicago, Illinois. Ross, who most recently resided in Los Angeles, California, earned his BA in Communication Studies, Speech Communication, and Women’s and Gender Studies from Iowa. In 2020, she received a Master of Science in Basic Science in Cultural Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
