Why don’t all states hold elections?
What does this election mean for America?
After the 2020 election, it was the first time since Barack Obama’s first term that both houses of Congress and the presidency were in the hands of Democrats.
If all three are held by the same party, it’s easier for the president or party to set their policies.
If Joe Biden’s Democrats lose control of one or both chambers, they will lose their ability to set the agenda on big issues that divide the country, such as gun control, the economy, abortion, immigration and the climate Variety.
The ruling party typically loses seats in midterm elections, although Democrats certainly want to buck the trend, as George W. Bush last did in 2002, the year after 9/11.
However, with President Biden’s approval ratings at historically low levels, doing so looks unlikely.
The question that remains is whether Republicans will be enough to get the five seats they need and the five seats they need in the Senate.
